First Few Days in Tunis
Hello all!
I decided to start a blog to keep everyone updated on how my life is going in Tunisia.
This way you can check it as frequently or infrequently as you would like and I won't bombard you with emails. I'm still working on the design, so let me know if something looks weird.
I haven't written a blog since I was in Jordan, so it will take me a while to get back into it. I haven't written anything yet because there hasn't been that much to report. I had a surprisingly easy trip over (thankfully free of screaming babies) and arrived on Friday morning. After the last few stressful months, I slept most of the weekend. Really exciting, I know. The hotel is nice, but the lack of a kitchen is getting a little obnoxious. Really, I'm just missing my microwave...
On Sunday, I ventured out with some people who work at AMIDEAST and the embassy. We ate in La Marsa, which is right by the beach, and went to the last day of a jazz festival. I have failed miserably at taking pictures, but I have a few from my blackberry. I will take more soon!
The first two pictures are of the Corniche in La Marsa and the third is the stage at the jazz concert.
Jet lag is still kicking my ass. I wrote most of this post at 1 am and I had a 9 am meeting today. If getting up at 8 with little sleep doesn't fix the jet lag, I don't know what will. The apartment search begins in earnest today, so I won't be a vagabond or "urban explorer" for much longer. Thank you to all who have sent messages so far. They keep me going when I'm daunted by the sheer amount of things I have to do:).
Goal of the day: get a cell phone...
